Student Clubs and Organizations

EHS partners with Rensselaer student clubs and organizations to promote a culture of safety and minimize risk associated with club activities. It is the responsibility of the student club members and their advisors to safely manage all activities and follow campus policies.

This page provides EHS requirements and resources for student clubs and organizations that use chemicals, tools or equipment, or have access to laboratories, shops or other research spaces on campus.

Resources

Advisor Guidance

Advisors of student clubs and organizations play an essential role in the safety of these student organizations. EHS has compiled resources to assist advisors with planning, training and providing ongoing support of student organizations.

Safety Policy and Program

Student Clubs and Organizations must review the Student Clubs and Organizations Safety Policy to become familiar with the requirements for their Safety Program. Each Club must have a written safety program that is specific to their club's activities to ensure compliance with required EHS regulatory standards.

Safety Inspections

Routine inspections of club spaces is required to ensure a safe working and learning environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Club Advisors and Club Officers are required to inspect spaces regularly as part of the Student Clubs and Organizations Safety Program. Download the safety inspection form linked above, inspect your space(s), and keep completed forms on file for review.
